Good governance isn’t a checkbox for us. It’s part of how we live out the mission.
In keeping with our constitutional mandate for a 50% Indigenous and 50% non-Indigenous composition,
we’ve gone the extra mile. Our commitment now includes a gender-balanced and geographically diverse volunteer board,
reaching from coast to coast. This diverse mix brings a wealth of perspectives, expertise, and skills to our board,
and we’re devoted to making this a continuous part of our normal operations. That means our board looks
less like a typical boardroom and more like the country we’re trying to build – different regions,
backgrounds, and lived experience, all working toward the same fire. It’s one of the reasons HIP
has stayed grounded, accountable, and trusted for twelve years.
