Michael Gauthier

Michael Gauthier was born in Winnipeg and has dedicated much of his life to community service, leadership, and strengthening relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples in Canada. His work reflects a long-standing commitment to learning, partnership, and reconciliation rooted in humility, respect, and service.

A long-time Rotarian, Michael served as Rotary District 7080 Governor in 2013–14, where he championed new pathways for education, cultural understanding, and collaborative action. During his term, he founded the initiative that would eventually evolve into the District 7080 Community Indigenous Resource Committee – a catalyst for ongoing dialogue, relationship-building, and Indigenous-led learning across the district. This work continues to influence Rotary clubs throughout the region and remains one of his most meaningful contributions to community service.

Michael’s professional career spanned three decades in the transportation and logistics sector, where he developed extensive expertise in operations, leadership, and strategic planning. He later launched and operated his own entrepreneurial business for five years before fully retiring, bringing with him a wealth of practical experience in organizational management, effective communication, and long-term planning.

As Treasurer and a member of the Executive Committee of HIP, Michael contributes strong financial stewardship, governance experience, and deep community engagement. His leadership helps strengthen HIP’s mission to honour Indigenous Peoples, support Indigenous youth, and build respectful, meaningful relationships across Canada.
