Audrey Gilbeau is a proud member of Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek on the southeast shores of Lake Nipigon in Northwestern Ontario. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Nokiiwin Tribal Council, where she supports member First Nations in governance, organizational development, and strategic capacity building.
A respected leader in community wellness, Audrey helped develop the G’minoomaadoziimin – We Are Living Well health and safety initiative, where she played an integral role in creating the Spirit Builder Program — a culturally grounded, train-the-trainer model designed to address lateral violence and strengthen community relationships through Anishinaabe teachings and values. Audrey proudly identifies as a Spirit Builder, reflecting her commitment to healing, empowerment, and the restoration of healthy community dynamics.
Since 1998, Audrey has dedicated her career to supporting First Nations and Indigenous organizations through program design, facilitation, governance support, and community engagement. Her work as a consultant and executive leader has given her a deep understanding of both the systemic challenges and the powerful strengths that exist across Indigenous communities.
As HIP’s Vice-Chair, Audrey brings her experience in governance, organizational development, and culturally grounded leadership to guide HIP’s mission of building meaningful relationships between Indigenous Peoples and all Canadians. Her knowledge, lived experience, and community-driven approach strengthen HIP’s efforts to uplift youth, support reconciliation, and foster understanding grounded in respect and partnership.
