The University of Winnipeg student brings her lived experience and knowledge as an Anishinaabekwe to the key program delivery and administrative support role
Honouring Indigenous Peoples (HIP) is excited to announce the appointment of Samantha Westlands as our Program and Executive Support Assistant. She joins the HIP team in a part-time role while pursuing post-secondary education at the University of Winnipeg.
“We are thrilled to welcome Samantha to the team in this new capacity,” said John Currie, Executive Director of HIP. “She brings not only energy and professionalism to our work, but also a deep, lived understanding of the impact of our programs. Samantha represents the next generation of reconciliation leaders, and we’re proud to have her help move our mission forward.”
Samantha has remained an active and valued HIP volunteer, ever since she participated in the National Youth to Youth (NY2Y) program in 2023. She became a Youth Leader in 2024. Most recently, Samantha supported HIP’s participation at the Rotary International Conference in June this year, managing an information booth to create awareness about our many activities.
In her new role as Program and Executive Support Assistant, Samantha will provide key support to HIP’s program delivery and administrative functions, helping advance HIP’s mission of building partnerships and promoting education to support reconciliation.
Please join us in welcoming Samantha Westlands to the HIP team!
