HIP board member receives distinguished honour

Suzanne Grouette has spent years helping to bridge understanding, foster respect and weave Indigenous voices into the fabric of her community, as a board member and volunteer with Honouring Indigenous Peoples and as a past-president and member of the Rotary Club of Windsor W.I.D.E.

That dedication has now been recognized at the highest level. Grouette, who is proudly Métis, was recently awarded Rotary’s Jennifer Jones Champion of Inclusion Award, an honour that celebrates club and individual efforts to achieve diverse, equitable and inclusionary practices.

The Windsor W.I.D.E. club, which stands for We’re Inclusive, Diverse, and Equitable, has championed inclusion as its founding purpose since its formation.

The award is named in honour of Rotary International’s first female president, Jennifer Jones, also of of Windsor, to recognize Rotarians whose commitment to inclusion transforms their clubs and communities. Jones was in attendance to present the award personally.
