In 2000, the Rotary Club of Cataraqui-Kingston wanted to support educational opportunities for First Nations students. In memory of one of its members, an annual bursary was created working in partnership with St. Lawrence College. The bursary is held in trust and awarded to one or two full-time students enrolled at any SLC campus who demonstrate above average academic achievement, commitment to volunteerism, community service and include First Nations, Metis or Inuit students.
In 2020/2021, two students are the recipients. Cassandra Hunter-Dubois is studying Behavioural Science Technology. Sharlene Anderson is in Business Administration & Human Resources. Both attend the Kingston campus.
Sharlene says “this bursary is going to help immensely in my third year while being a challenging but rewarding experience”.
We wish them both success in their studies as well as for the future!
