John W. Currie is an influential executive leader, non-profit expert, and champion of Indigenous and Non-Indigenous relationship building. As the Executive Director of HIP (Honouring Indigenous Peoples), John has transformed a regional initiative into a nationally recognized movement with global impact. His strategic vision and collaborative leadership have elevated HIP’s mission to foster reconciliation and strengthen cross-cultural partnerships.

With a deep understanding of the complexities faced by non-profits, John has successfully led organizations through growth, change, and impact-driven initiatives. He is experienced in working with a diverse, gender-balanced, and geographically dispersed board of directors, ensuring inclusive decision-making and effective governance. His leadership extends to serving as President of the Rotary Club of Pickering, reflecting his dedication to community service and leadership excellence. Additionally, he has provided his expertise on the Cultural Advisory Committee for the City of Pickering, contributing to inclusive cultural development and community engagement.

John’s extensive experience includes key executive roles such as Interim Executive Director at AGE Inc. and Chief Information Officer for the Ontario Safety Association of Community and Healthcare. He is a founding member of the Toronto Chapter of the Society for Information Management (SIM) and has served on numerous boards, demonstrating his commitment to sector-wide leadership and governance.
