In early May, HIP Y2Y 2024 participants Akshay and Christian had the opportunity to present to the Rotary Club of Brampton. Their presentation was both informative and inspiring, as they shared their personal experiences from HIP’s National Youth-to-Youth Experience.
Akshay and Christian were deeply moved by the powerful conversations they had with Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers during the program. The insights shared by the Honourable Steven Point, Elder Gwendolyn Point, Elder Phyllis Webstad, and Elder Peter Stone left a lasting impact on them.
Field trips to the Squamish Cultural Centre and Sto:lo Historical Site were also part of this incredible program.
“By connecting with Indigenous communities, not only will our Brampton youth develop an appreciation of each other’s unique cultures and communities, but a dialogue can begin about what needs to be done to ensure that all peoples in Canada, regardless of culture, are respected and treated fairly”
HIP gratefully acknowledges and gives a big THANK YOU to the many Rotary Clubs, organizations and individuals who supported youth from across Canada to attend our Youth-to-Youth 2024 Experience! Looking forward to Y2Y 2025!
