HIP, Rotary & Martin Family Initiative Working Together

HIP & Rotary proudly supports the Martin Family Initiative AYEP program!

At HIP, we are deeply committed to supporting the Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship Program (AYEP). We recognize the immense importance of providing opportunities and resources for youth to explore entrepreneurship and develop their skills. By empowering them through programs like AYEP, we are investing in their future success and helping to bridge the gap in economic opportunities.

On Tuesday, May 16th, 2023, the Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship Program (AYEP) from St. Patrick High School, Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board, had an incredible opportunity. They were invited to visit Dougall Media by Hector Dougall, a member of the Port Arthur Rotary and the owner of Dougall Media. Mr. Dougall graciously acted as a guest speaker and mentor for the AYEP students this term.

During their visit, the class had an enriching tour of the facility, where they even had the chance to go live on CKPR radio and be interviewed by TBT News for the evening broadcast. The students seized the opportunity to pitch their business venture ideas to Mr. Dougall, who provided valuable feedback and helpful comments.

Bryan Honeysett, the teacher of the AYEP program, expressed that the students had an outstanding experience at the facility. Mr. Dougall himself commented that the kids had an absolute blast, and he thoroughly enjoyed the interaction with them. Mr. Dougall thanked Art Warwick, the Port Arthur Rotary, MFI and St. Patrick High School for the opportunity.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to Art Warwick, the Port Arthur Rotary,  MFI, St. Patrick High School and Mr. Dougall for making this opportunity possible. It is through collaborations like these that we can empower Indigenous youth to explore their entrepreneurial potential.

HIP is proud to currently support the program in two Rotary Districts and are actively working to expand our support to many more in 2023 and 2024. Our goal is to create a sustainable and inclusive environment where Indigenous youth can thrive, unleash their potential, and become leaders in their communities and beyond. Together, we can build a brighter and more equitable future for all.
