In 2020, Greg Bishop from North Hatley, Quebec collaborated with the local marina to create and plan a gathering place for youth, First Nations, veterans and community as a whole. The building will be a focal point for fun, education, heritage, growth and healing. Included in the announcement to the community, a birch bark canoe used in the 1991film, Black Robe, was launched into the Massawippi River. Greg wanted the launch to honour the Indigenous Peoples who have lived in the area. The building construction is being determined.
On Sept. 5, 2021, Greg and a few supporters will swim across Lake Massawippi which is 9 miles long and will take most of the day to complete. That’s a lot of strokes! Greg will complete the swim as a fundraiser and HIP has been designated as one of the recipients. Good luck, Greg!
